		<description>In Silicon Valley I wouldn&#039;t recommend wearing a suit.  It&#039;s too unusual, and makes you look &quot;out of it&quot;.  And the book idea is interesting, but probably not good.  It emphasizes you as a &quot;job seeker&quot;, while the ideal candidate is fresh from another company doing the same stuff.</description>

Regadring male vs. female: There were only a couple of chances to use gender and I did choose the male gender in those 2 cases because switching mid-paragraph would have been confusing for the reader.  If you read any of my other articles I tend to lean more towards the female gender when discussing developers.  Regarding your comment on the marketing material, as someone who does a lot of interviewing I would not feel &quot;slimed&quot; by a well-design book of the person&#039;s skills and accomplishments. If the book is a tri-fold brochure thrown together on a BubbleJet it&#039;s likely to do the candidate more harm than good, but there&#039;s nothing &quot;hokey&quot; about spending the time to package yourself well.
