My Podcast Launches Today: “Startups for the Rest of Us”

My new podcast launches today. It’s called Startups for the Rest of Us.

My co-host is Mike Taber, the guy behind SingleFounder.com.

Our goal is to help non-venture-backed, bootstrapped startups, microISVs and Micropreneurs.

I subscribe to about 20 startup podcasts in iTunes, and about 10% of them provide real, practical advice from experienced entrepreneurs. So many of the interview shows turn into people promoting their app or service instead of digging into actionable steps you can take to launch or grow your startup.

That’s why we’ve made it out mission to provide practical information based on our real-life experience as software/web entrepreneurs (20+ years between the two of us), as well as the entrepreneurs we work with in the Micropreneur Academy.

The Details
A new episode every Tuesday. The first episode is live at the podcast website and you can listen to it in your browser or download the MP3. We’re also providing full written transcripts of each episode in the show notes.

Episodes will be concise and run 20-30 minutes so you can listen to them during a jog, a short commute or part of a lunch hour.

If you're trying to grow your startup you've come to the right place. I'm a serial web entrepreneur here to share what I've learned in my 11 years as a self-funded startup founder. Luckily several thousand people have decided to stick around and join the conversation.

Hi Rob – Good stuff on the 20-30 minute format. Most podcasts today are getting longer and longer and looooooonger…

Curious which of the 20 startup-related podcasts you think are the best.

I like Cranky Geeks, Internet Business Mastery, Internet Marketing: Insider tips and advice for Online Marketing, Mixergy, North Atlantic Radio, The Pipeline, and Venture Voice.

Oh, and thanks for the feedback on length; we made a deliberate decision to stay in the 20-30 minute range and we sometimes edit like samurai warriors to get there.

Cool – I liked Venture Voice too but he seemed to stop making shows. FYI, not related to startups or business (usually) but IT Conversations is generally very good, along with This American Life. Startup related I like This Week in Startups and The Startup Success Podcast (sometimes).

the best podcast is yours! i heard many and most of them provide common sense BS when you have millions of dollars behind. but your podcast is first podcast that i wait everyweek. it exactly shows all mine pain points and … most important – shows potential ways to avoid them. thank you for the great work!
