Yes, there were definitely a few outliers making a living from shareware in the 80s/90s, but it was quite rare. From what I&#039;ve seen, your changes of doing this successfully went up many times right around the turn of the century.

So while I could have said &quot;past 2 decades,&quot; the odds before 10 years ago were so low, with so few people actually supporting themselves from their own apps...that I am considering it near zero. But you are correct - there are a handful of outliers who could beg to differ on this point.</description>
